Planned Giving can benefit The Hillside School while helping you to save taxes, increase your income, and leave more to your heirs.
Some friends of Hillside have already indicated that they have placed the school in their will. There may be others that we are not aware of or that are considering this commitment.
The Hillside School Legacy Circle has been created to recognize the individuals and families who have made this commitment. The Legacy Circle, with its members, will have a substantial impact on the continued quality of learning that Hillside offers its students. Membership is open to all Hillside families – alumni, parents, faculty, staff, board members and friends who name The Hillside School as a beneficiary in their estate plan, through their will, life insurance or retirement plan.
Legacy Circle members understand the critical need to strengthen Hillside’s future by providing gifts that support the endowment. The endowment is a perpetual fund whose income provides essential support for all aspects of The Hillside School including scholarships, academic support, assistive technology, library resources, equipment and facilities. Members of The Legacy Circle will have the satisfaction of helping Hillside students now and in the future.
If you plan to make a charitable gift by will, please think it through carefully. Then, meet with your attorney to discuss and update your will. Clearly define what you want to do and describe what you want given to whom.
Let us know – we hope you’ll tell us when you have named The Hillside School in your will. We would very much like the opportunity to thank you for your generosity.
The official bequest language for The Hillside School is: I/We [name], of [city, state, zip], give, devise and bequeath to The Hillside School, of Macungie, Pennsylvania [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its [unrestricted use and/or purpose].
The following items are special considerations when you plan a charitable bequest to help support the mission of The Hillside School.
Unrestricted Bequest - This is a gift for our general purposes, to be used at the discretion of our governing board of trustees. A gift like this-without conditions attached-is frequently the most useful, as it allows us to determine the wisest and most pressing need for the funds at the time of receipt.
Restricted Bequest - This type of gift allows you to specify how the funds are to be used. Do you a have a special purpose or project in mind? If so, it’s best to consult us when you make your will to be certain your intent can be carried out.
Honorary or Memorial Bequest – This is a gift given ‘In Honor Of” or “In Memory Of” someone. We are pleased to honor your request.
Endowed Bequest – This bequest allows you to restrict the principal of your gift, requiring us to hold the funds permanently and use only the investment income generated. Creating an endowment in this manner means that your gift can continue giving indefinitely.
